There are many situations for which your dentist may recommend you get a dental crown on one or multiple of your teeth. Crowns can be used to strengthen teeth that are decaying, cover a large filling, hold a dental bridge in place, cover a dental implant, or compliment other cosmetic treatments.

If you are currently in need of a dental crown, but are hesitant because of the time commitment with your busy schedule, a CEREC (Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramics) crown might be a very good option for you. With CEREC crown technology, we are now able to place your crown in just one appointment!

In the past, placing a crown actually meant coming in for two appointments, minimum. During the first appointment, a mold of your tooth would be formed and sent to an outside lab where the crown would be created. You would have to wait to come in for your second appointment until that mold had been sent back to our practice and thoroughly examined by one of our experts. With the CEREC crown, we can have your crown made the same day! In fact, it is also commonly referred to as the the “same-day” crown. This is a huge benefit if you want to avoid a time-consuming process and moving around your schedule to find time for multiple dental appointments in your calendar.

The treatment starts with an oral exam and digital x-rays to determine that your tooth will indeed benefit from placing a crown. Once this is established, we will take a digital image of your tooth to send to the CEREC machine. The CEREC machine uses a computer-aided design process to create a crown that fits perfectly on top of your natural tooth. These crowns are made of ceramic material to match your natural coloring and fit perfectly within your gum line. They are also extremely durable, so you do not have to worry about changing any of your eating or oral hygiene habits.

Interested in getting your crown placed quickly and easily with the CEREC machine? Call us today at (704) 900-7301 and a member of our team will be happy to answer any further questions you may have and get you set up with your next appointment!
